Week of October 19th - 23rd

2nd Grade Math
This week we completed our chapter on comparing numbers. We had the chapter test on Thursday. We started our new chapter on exploring two digit addition and subtraction on Friday. Please keep practicing your addition and subtraction facts at home.

1st Grade Reading
This week in Reading we took our Unit 2 test on the Wilson Fundations program. We worked on dictated sentences, trick words, letter sounds and spelling words. We also worked on a story called Fog. The children read the story and worked on various comprehension activities to go with the story.

Afternoon Math
This week in Math we worked on numbers 11 to 30. We also worked on number order and numbers that are out of place.

Afternoon Reading
This week in Reading we worked on many activities. There was a large focus on guided reading. I will be sending books home with your children twice a week. Please take the time to read these books with your child. They should be able to read them fairly independently. We continue to work with sight words and comprehension strategies. We also worked on some writing assignments including Halloween costume descriptions and fall stories.
