Week of October 29th - November 2nd

2nd Grade Math

This week we completed Chapter 6 of our Math series.  This chapter continues to work on 2-digit addition.  Our next chapter works on 2-digit subtraction.  Keep working on Math facts at home!

1st Grade Reading - Enrichment

This week we read a story called Glow in the Dark Animals .  Vocabulary includes: bacteria, bioluminescent, camouflages, molecule, oxygen, predators, prey.  Next week we will be reading a story called Speed. 

 

1st Grade Reading - Tier 3

We have been reviewing our letters with the Jolly Phonics program.  This week we worked on the letters - qu, ou, oi, ue, er, ar.  We also read Big or Little- our Readers Theater story

2nd Grade Reading

This week we read a book called What Was That.  We also read several leveled books during guided reading. 

1st Grade Math

This week we completed Chapter 6 of our Math series - this chapter works on subtraction strategies to 12. 

We have also been heavily focusing on number sense. 

2nd Grade Reading - Tier 3

This week we worked on Lesson 20, 21, 22 and 23 of our Leveled Literacy Intervention.  We read 4 stories.  Keep an eye out for the yellow folder that comes home with your child daily. 

Week of October 22 - 26

2nd Grade Math

This week we completed Chapter 5 of our Math series and began Chapter 6 which continues to work on 2-digit addition.  Keep working on Math facts at home!

1st Grade Reading - Enrichment

This week we continued to read a story called Storm Chasers.  Vocabulary includes: doppler radion, funnel clouds, meterologists, supercell, Tornado Alley, tornado warning, tornado watch, wall cloud, waterspout
Next week we will be reading Glow in the Dark Animals.

We have been reviewing our letters with the Jolly Phonics program.  This week we worked on the letters -oo, y, x, ch, sh, th .  We also read I Like My Town- our Readers Theater story

2nd Grade Reading

This week we read a book called A City Park.  We also read several leveled books during guided reading.

This week we completed Chapter 5 of our Math series.  We began Chapter 6 which works on subtraction strategies to 12.  We have also been heavily focusing on number sense.

This week we worked on Lesson 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 of our Leveled Literacy Intervention.  We read 5 stories.  Keep an eye out for the yellow folder that comes home with your child daily.

This week we worked on Chapter 4 of our Math series.  This chapter works with number concepts and patterns.  We have been working with ordinal numbers and comparing numbers with greater than, less than and equal to.

1st Grade Reading - Tier 3

We have been reviewing our letters with the Jolly Phonics program.  This week we worked on the letters - ai, j, oa, ie.  We also read Birthday Parties - our Readers Theater story

2nd Grade Reading

This week we read a book called Vegetable Soup.  We also read several leveled books during guided reading.
