First Grade
Reading and Language Arts
This week we read the last story in our anthology, The Hat. It is about a friend named Frog who gives his friend Toad a hat that is the wrong size.
Please return any leveled readers that you might have at home. Thanks!

Spelling
There will not be a spelling test next week.

Math
We continued to review addition and subtraction facts. Please keep working on this at home.

Second Grade
Reading and Language Arts
We worked on a theme review this week. We read two stories, Raymond's Best Summer and Join the Circus. We compared and contrasted the stories and looked at literature.

Math
We started our new chapter on multiplication. The children are just learning the basic concepts and they will learn more about it in third grade.

Week of May 19th - 23rd

First Grade
Reading and Language Arts
Please continue to study sight words at home.
This week we read Fireflies for Nathan. This is a story about a boy who spends some time with his Grandparents. They catch fireflies in a jar just like his father used to do when he was six years old.
The library has requested that I return all the books so I will no longer be sending home books in the children's purple folders.

Spelling

Math

Second Grade

This week we read the story The School Mural. This is a story about a group of children who work together to paint a mural for their school.
We took a trip to Prairieview and met our pen pals. We also went on a tour of the school.
The library has requested that I return all the books so I will no longer be sending home books in the children's folders.

Spelling

Math
We completed our chapter on adding and subtracting three digit numbers. This has been a difficult task for many of the children so keep practicing this over the summer.

This week we read a story called Two Greedy Bears. This story is about two bear cubs who cannot agree about how to divide a piece of cheese. We also spent a lot of time reading our leveled readers.
Please keep reading the books in the children's purple folders.

Math
We continued to review addition and subtraction facts. Please keep working on this at home.

This week we read the story Moses Goes to a Concert. This is a story about a deaf boy and his classmates who attend a concert. We learned how to sign the alphabet. The children also wrote letters to their 3rd grade pen pals at Prairieview.
