First Grade
Reading and Language Arts
Please continue to study sight words at home.
This week we read a story called The New Friend. This is story about a little boy from Japan who makes friends with the children in his new neighborhood.
Please keep reading the books in the children's purple folders.
Spelling
Words for next week include: coin, oil, boy, soil, toy, point, moist, destroy
Math
We explored weight this week in Math. We also worked on capacity and temperature.
Second Grade
Reading and Language Arts
We had a theme review this week and read two stories, A Curve in the River and Slippery Siblings. We made connections with other theme literature we read. We wrote letters to characters in the stories and messages in a bottle.
Please continue to read the books that I have been sending home with the children.

Math
The children did very well on their chapter test. We started our new chapter on adding and subtraction three digit numbers. Keep practicing your facts at home.
