Week of November 9th - 13th

2nd Grade Math
In math we are continuing to work on adding two-digit problems. We will have a test on this chapter next week. Keep practicing your additon problems at home. Our next chapter will be on two-digit subtraction.

1st Grade Reading
This week was a bit different then a normal Reading week. I visited Miss Tracy and Mrs. Sis's room and taught a lesson on Respect. The children listened to a story called The Smoky Night. As a group we discussed differences and the importance of respecting each other and their property. After the discussion we made a class quilt. Each child made a quilt square that represented themsevles.

Afternoon Math
This week in Math we continue to focus on money. The chidren have now worked with pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and dollar bills. They are aware of each coin's value and we have continued practicing on adding up various coin amounts. This has been a difficult task for my students.

2nd Grade Reading
This week we worked on a variety of different activities. We read leveled books, completed phonics assigments, and worked on fluency and comprehension strategies. On Friday we created Turkeys and then later wrote narrative stories about them. Please continue to read the books that I send home daily.
