2nd Grade Math
Next week we will begin a new chapter on 3 digit addition. Students will start with using mental math to add with multiples of 100. Then we will add 3 digits with and without regrouping.

1st Grade Reading
We are working on Unit 11 of the Wilson Fundations program. This unit focuses on syllables instead of sounds. Students will work on reading and spelling two syllable words with closed syllables.
2nd Grade Reading
Students are working on Unit 14 of the Wilson Fundations program. In this unit students will work on reading and spelling words with the vowel teams ou and ow.

Week of April 16th - 20th
2nd Grade Math
We have started our chapter on place value this week. Students will be learning to identify the place value of four digit numbers. They will also learn how to read and write three digit numbers in different ways.
1st Grade Reading
We have started Unit 11 of the Wilson Fundations program. In this unit students are now concentrating on syllables. Students will learn how to read and spell two-syllable words with closed syllables.
2nd Grade Reading
We have started Unit 14 of the Wilson Fundations program. In this unit students will learn how to read and spell words with the vowel teams ou and ow.

This week we took our Chapter test on Measurement. When we return from Spring Break we will be working with weight, mass, capacity and temperature.

We are working on Unit 10 of the Wilson Fundations program. In this unit students will learn to blend and segment up to five sounds in a closed syllable.
2nd Grade Reading
We are working on Unit 12 of the Wilson Fundations program. In this unit students are practicing with two more vowel teams: oi and oy. Students have learned that oy is used only at the end of a syllable, while oi is used at the beginning or in the middle of a syllable.

This week we have been working with measurement. My students have been having fun working on a lot of hands on activities in the classroom. They are learning to make estimates using inches, feet and yards. They will also learn how to measure in centimetes and meters. We also continue to review skills learned earlier in the year including: double digit addition and subtraction, telling time and counting change.

We completed Unit 9 of our Wilson Fundations program. Our next unit does not introduce any new sounds. Instead students will learn to blend and segment up to five sounds in a close syllable.
